New challenge - SuperMoto

After spending 13 years in motocross, Miks with his team decide to try something new and exciting – SuperMoto. Big influence on this decision made Dzinars Baltais – one of the experienced SuperMoto riders in Latvia – who supported us with wheels and front brakes.

6th of July, sport base “333” – first try on flat surface. Instructions through the phone from Latvian SuperMoto pioneer Dzintars Muiznieks and KTM SXF 250 is on the track. Miks is riding alone, so there is no one with whom he can compare his speed, but it feels ok.

Miks : “Of course I had seen SuperMoto on TV before and few tips from Dzintars Muiznieks helped, too. When I was little kid, my trainer was Andris Barbalis and sometimes we practiced on asphalt, so I knew what I’m up to. Motocross? Doctor said that I have to have one more operation for my injured knee, so that means another half-year off the bike and I know how hard my competitors train – it would be very hard to catch them and ride in level I want to. It’s last year in high school for me as well. So if this SuperMoto thing goes not so well, motosport will stay like hobby. But I’m pretty optimistic about it, though.”

To add, Miks is part of Baltic State new and perspective motocross rider’s generation. Matiss Karro, Davis Livs, Augusts Justs, Davis Ivanovs, Toms Macuks, Niks Apfelbaums from Latvia, Gert Krestinov, Harri Kullas, Indrek Magi, Lauri Lehtla, Martin Leok, Rannar Uusna, Prit and Kristian Raatsep from Estonia and Vytautas Bucas from Lithuania. These guys have been racing together since age of 5 and have reached good level. Hopefully, in near future they will prove it European and World championship level as well. At least Miks and eprotech team wishes them luck.
